Two weeks ago Detroit rapper/producer Frank Nitt announced he had been appointed the curator of his best friend and legendary Detroit Hip Hop producer J Dilla’s music catalogue.
Around that same time he flew out to LA to pick up some of Dilla’s things, one of them being his MPC 3000, so they could be back in Detroit where they rightfully belong.
I happened to be there when he picked up Dilla’s MPC and so I shot this picture so the moment could be frozen in time.
This machine is what he was using to make beats up until his death.
Rest in peace J Dilla.
